PigeonRaceAnalyser › Privacy PolicyThe short version: your loft, birds, races and mixes stay on your own device. There's no account, nothing to sign up for, and your private race data is never uploaded to any server. This page spells out the little that the app does touch, why, and your rights.

PigeonRaceAnalyser is run by Morne of Ahlers Loft, a racing pigeon fancier in South Africa. It is a personal, non-commercial project — no company and no investors. If you have any question about privacy or your data, please use the Contact & Feedback page.
When you load your race results and work with your birds, mixes and pedigrees, all of that is saved only in your own browser's local storage, on the device you're using. It is not sent to me, it is not uploaded to a server, and there is no account or login. Because it lives on your device, I can't see it and neither can anyone else.
The practical trade-off: your data is tied to that browser on that device. If you clear your browser storage, use a different device, or switch browsers, that data won't automatically follow you — so keep your own backups of anything important. You can wipe everything the app has stored at any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser settings.
To see roughly how many people use the app and which tools are popular, the site uses GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It records anonymous, aggregate counts — for example how often the app is opened and which tool is used. It does not use tracking cookies, does not build a profile of you, and is completely separate from your private on-device loft data, which is never part of any analytics.
The ETA predictor, race-day weather and toss tools need weather data along a flight path, so the app asks weather services for forecasts using the coordinates you enter or the liberation point of a race. Those coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (forecast, geocoding and historical weather) to fetch the data — no personal detail is attached, just the location being looked up.
On a computer with no GPS, the app can offer to guess your general area so the weather map starts somewhere sensible. If you use that, your device makes a request to ipapi.co, which reads your internet (IP) address and returns an approximate town-level location. This is only used to centre the map and is not stored by this site.
The Kp "toss" guide for young-bird training reads space-weather (geomagnetic) data from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center and SANSA (the South African National Space Agency). These are simple data lookups with no personal information.
Interactive weather maps are shown using an embedded Windy map. When that map loads, Windy is a third party and may set its own cookies or collect data under its own privacy policy.
If you send a message through the Contact & Feedback page, your email address and message are delivered to me through Web3Forms, a form-handling service, so that I can read and reply. That information is used only to answer you — it isn't added to a mailing list or shared with anyone else.
A small, low-key sponsor or advert helps keep the app free. These are served from this site's own files — there is no third-party advertising network watching you and no ad-tracking cookies. If you click a sponsor, you leave for their website, where their own privacy policy applies.
The app itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember your loft data and preferences on your device. Third-party features you actively use — such as the embedded Windy map — may set their own cookies under their own policies.
This is a general-audience hobby tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Because your loft data lives on your device, you are already in full control of it: you can view, change or permanently delete it at any time by using the app or clearing this site's storage in your browser. For anything you've sent me directly (such as a message via the contact form), you're welcome to ask me to show or delete it.
As a South African project, this app aims to respect the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). If you're visiting from the EU or UK, the same principles align with the GDPR — minimal data, clear purpose, and your right to access or erase what little is held. To exercise any of these, use the Contact & Feedback page.
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, I'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Because the tools evolve, it's worth a glance now and then.
